Tribute to Pierre Vassiliu
Pierre Vassiliu has just left us.
His voice charmed France from the very beginning when he sang Brassens. His compositions - songs of course but also music from films - quickly seduced the public on a wide range of themes and tones, upsetting his era or detaching himself from it with amusement.
Titles like Armand, The Sergeant’s Wife, Ivanhoé, I found a newspaper in the lobby of an airport, or Who this is, are etched in our memories. And we will keep the memory of an artist whose words and airs are dazzling, whose self-mockery is generous, and whose curiosity is turned towards the world and particularly Africa and its Senegal.
I extend my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
