Fleur Pellerin, Minister of Culture and Communication, in full agreement with Joël Bruneau, Mayor of Caen, Rodolphe Thomas, Mayor of Hérouville-Saint-Clair, Laurent Beauvais, President of the Basse-Normandie Regional Council and Jean-Léonce Dupont, President of the Calvados General Council, appointed Marcial Di Fonzo Bo as director of La Comédie de Caen, Centre dramatique national de Normandie.
Founding member of the company The Théâtre des Lucioles after leaving the school of the Théâtre national de Bretagne in Rennes, Marcial Di Fonzo Bo led with this collective a rare theatrical adventure by working as an actor or director on contemporary writings and especially in direct dialogue with authors; In parallel, his career has diversified with cinema and opera.
Her project for the Comédie de Caen – Hérouville-Saint-Clair, Centre dramatique national is notably marked by the presence of a «collective of artists» bringing together six authors, directors and associate actors: Elise Vigier, David Lescot, Lucie Berelowitsch, Guillermo Pisani, Pierre Maillet and Laëtitia Guédon. Contemporary texts by living authors will be particularly honoured with the invitation of Léonora Miano and Leslie Kaplan, among others.
This artistic ensemble will work on all the dimensions of the project in connection with the various partners and should allow an extensive presence throughout the region, as well as the implementation of new ways of supporting young companies and new dynamics of co-production and production.
European and international ambition is at the measure of this beautiful creative tool, the association with the University of Caen will be strongly developed and the involvement of the CDN on training but also on research will be highlighted.
