The Ministry of Culture and Communication announces that the 9th edition of the European Night of Museums will take place on Saturday 18 May 2013 in France and throughout Europe.
See and review the largest collections as the most unusual, dialogue with the
classic and contemporary masterpieces, discover museums differently and
approach art without constraints… as many opportunities offered to all audiences by
this night of possibilities.
From Moscow to Madrid, from London to Istanbul, from Marseille to Bucharest, this great festival
will be experienced at the same time by millions of Europeans who are close by their thirst for
discoveries. Among them, are expected about 30% of young people whose interest in the
event is reaffirmed every year.
Thematic evenings, unexpected visits, sound and lights, concerts, screenings,
shows, tours, etc. will mark this night where the participating museums will be
free for visitors.
Finally, the event resolutely turned towards the digital, will also be lived on the web
in a dynamic of sharing. Users will be able to exchange favourites and
practical ideas on social networks, find the complete program of
the event and access all useful information on the Night Web portal
European Museums (www.nuitdesmusees.culture.fr).
In 2012, 1304 French and 2021 European museums participated in
night. In France, more than 2 million curious night owls have
took advantage of this unique opportunity to invest the exhibition halls through 5000
surprising animations, fun, scientific, educational...
The European Night of Museums is organized by the Ministry of Culture and
Communication. It is placed under the triple patronage of the Council of
