The Ministry of Culture and Communication, the National Institute of Art History and the Fontainebleau Castle, organize the third

edition of the Art History Festival which will take place from Friday 31 May to Sunday 2 June 2013 at the Castle and in the city of Fontainebleau.

Nearly 20,000 visitors are expected for this new edition of the History Festival  of art which invites the general public and also professionals, students, teachers and all amateurs and curious of the world of art - to make better known this discipline whose teaching is now generalized to all the schooling.

The theme of the 2013 edition will be «the ephemeral» which will be the common thread of all the conferences and round tables and declined through the 200 events organized (meetings, screenings, visits etc.). Visitors will also find the annual meetings such as: the Art History Forum (panorama of the world of art news), the Book Fair and Art Magazines and Art & Camera, the film section of the Festival.

After Italy and Germany, the guest country will this year be the United Kingdom - United,

a country that is a forerunner in the history of museums and has a different relationship to its heritage than ours.  At the crossroads of audiences and knowledge, free and open, these three days will offer a profusion of lectures, debates, film screenings, concerts, exhibitions, guided tours, readings, in various places of the city, at the castle and in the gardens of Fontainebleau.
