Aurélie Filippetti, Minister of Culture and Communication, has approved the proposal of the jury, chaired by Catherine Tasca, President of the National Centre for Contemporary Dramaturgies – Open Theatre, to appoint Caroline Marcilhac as director of Open Theatre.

 
Caroline Marcilhac is today co-director alongside Hubert Colas, its founder, of the festival actoral in Marseille, focusing on contemporary writing in all artistic fields. From 2003 to 2011, she was production director of the Festival d'Avignon where she carried the creations of artists such as Christophe Honoré, Christoph Marthaler and Jean-Pierre Vincent.

Caroline Marcilhac defends for Théâtre Ouvert a project characterized by the accompaniment of the individual paths of authors, by the place of the passage of texts to the stage in connection with the networks of production and dissemination and by the active association of audiences. She will lead the evolution of Open Theatre with respect for its history and its teams.

The Minister pays tribute to the exceptional adventure carried out by Lucien and Micheline Attoun in the service of contemporary writings and their authors.

Caroline Marcilhac will take up her duties on 1 January 2014.
