Marcel Hanoun left us on September 22. He was 82 years old.
His first feature film, A simple story, Shot in 1959, he won the recognition and support of Jean-Luc Godard. Since then, Marcel Hanoun has directed more than 70 films, composing a work like no other, for its exactness, its audacity, its originality.
Quite early on, he had discovered in the phenomenon of the film making himself the main source of his inspiration. He continued to deepen this fascinating meditation on the creative act.
As a director and film theorist, Marcel Hanoun was probably above all a filmmaker for filmmakers, whose fruitfulness is measured by the profound influence he had on generations of film buffs, students and aspiring filmmakers. Through his work and his thought, he will have inspired many vocations.
