THE ARTIST ANRI SALA HAS CHOSEN CHRISTINE MACEL AS CURATOR
Anri Sala, who will represent France at the 55th international exhibition
of the Venice Biennale, has chosen Christine Macel, curator
Chef at the Centre Pompidou, as curator of his exhibition.
Christine Macel previously curated the exhibition
Sala at the Pompidou Centre in 2012. For her, one of the
characteristics of the artist’s filmic work is to push the
narration and especially the symbolic dimension, leaving a blank space
for a spectator who projects his own stories.”
Anri Sala was nominated in January 2012 as an artist for the Pavilion
on the proposal of Xavier Darcos, President of the French Institute,
in consultation with the Ministry of Culture and Communication, and
after consultation with a committee of experts.
In recent months, the curator and the artist have begun a dialogue
with Suzanne Gaensheimer, curator of the German
director of the MMK in Frankfurt, herself in connection with the artists she
invited, on the possibilities of cooperation between France and
Germany, which they will report on in November 2012.
The French Institute is responsible for the French Pavilion
Venice Biennale in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and
Communication (Direction générale de la création artistique). This project
the subject of a public order from the Ministry of Culture and
Communication.
Placed under the police station of Massimiliano Gioni, commissioner
exhibition and art critic, also director of the visual arts section
of the Biennale di Venezia, the 55th International Art Exhibition
