In agreement with Laurent Cathala, Deputy Mayor of Créteil, President of the Territorial Public Institution T11, Christian Favier, President of the Departmental Council of Val-de-Marne, Audrey Azoulay, Minister of Culture and Communication, gave its approval to the appointment of José Montalvo as director of the MAC, Maison des arts de Créteil.
From 5 September 2016, he succeeds Didier Fusillier, who has profoundly marked the identity and influence of the Maison des arts de Créteil.
José Montalvo, who will be joined by Nathalie Decoudu as Managing Director, proposes a project for MAC based on mixed aesthetics, in which diversity will have a prominent place. Conceived as an experimental and creative laboratory with a strong educational dimension, this project is resolutely geared towards the inhabitants, inviting artists from the theatre, circus, music and dance. For his creations, José Montalvo will combine new technologies and performing arts with emerging and renowned artists. Director Élise Vigier will be associated with the programming of the MAC.
Dancer, choreographer, producer and director, José Montalvo has worked with many artists such as Michel Coste, Dominique Hervieu and Wajdi Mouawad. In 1998, he was appointed director, with Dominique Hervieu, of the Centre chorégraphique national de Créteil et du Val de Marne and in 2000, he took over the direction of dance at the Théâtre national de Chaillot alongside Ariel Goldenberg.
Audrey Azoulay wishes to greet Didier Fusillier, now President of the Public Establishment of the Park and the Grande Halle de la Villette, as well as the entire team for their work that have supported the development of the MAC in recent years.
