the success of the 13th edition of the Rendez-vous aux Jardins, which
of the public’s love for the art of gardens and for our
green heritage, areas of excellence and reference in France.
This year’s programming focused on La promenade au
garden. In total, more than 2,300 parks and gardens
Around 4,000 events were held in France, including nearly 1,300 visits
215 exhibitions, 200 workshops, as well as numerous
conferences, readings, shows and demonstrations of know-how.
Among the trends of this 13th edition:
Many activities have been specially designed around the theme
2015 «The garden walk». Thus, lovers of history and
literature were able to enjoy walks in the gardens of the
as in the garden of George Sand’s estate (Nohant-Vic) where
650 visitors were able to walk in the footsteps of the writer. The most curious, in
new experiences, were able to discover the gardens differently: thus
a night stroll, between lights and music, in the gardens of
Marqueyssac in Vézac (Aquitaine) attracted 700 participants.
Exceptional openings: for the occasion, more than 600 gardens have
specifically opened their gates, as the park of the horticulture company
Niort, which has welcomed 600 amateurs, the Rochelle Horticultural Centre, which
received 900 visitors including 580 schoolchildren or the walk in the gardens of
Chédigny (Centre-Val de Loire) with 3,500 visitors.
Activities for young people: for the day of Friday, June 5,
dedicated as every year to school in order to raise awareness very early
children in the art of gardens, 500 gardens have reserved a reception
specific to the youngest. Among these, the garden of the Matignon hotel in
Paris, exceptionally open to visitors, received some 900 children
to admire one of the capital’s most beautiful parks, fashioned over the
weather, which combines French symmetry and landscaped park. Several gardens have
extended their animations for the young audience throughout the weekend,
as the gardens of the Fountain in Nîmes (Languedoc-Roussillon) which have
made the happiness of 1,400 family visitors with shows, narrated walks
and creative workshops.
Sharing know-how: a source of learning and enrichment, of
many walks commented by gardeners or
landscapers have delighted young and old. The landscapers of the gardens
of the Abbey of Royaumont in Asnières-sur-Oise (Île-de-France
France) exchanged with 655 visitors and gardeners of the national domain
Bussy-Rabutin (Burgundy) shared their passion with 650 amateurs.
Cities and Countries of Art and History: most of the 181 Cities and Countries
and history, which are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year,
by inviting the public to walks and
activities organized under the guidance of heritage and
tour guides. This is the case of the circuit in Sedan (Champagne-Ardenne)
which recorded a participation of 3,000 walkers.
The Rendez-vous aux jardins are organized by the Ministry of Culture and
Communication and implemented by the regional
cultural affairs, in collaboration with the Centre des monuments
the National Parks and Gardens Council, the Parks and
gardens of France, the Historic House, the Old French houses and
Cities and Countries of Art and History.
The event partners are the National Union of
landscape entrepreneurs (Unep), Rustica, France 3, Autoroute Info
107.7, Radio Vinci Autoroutes 107.7 and Sanef 107.7.
This event is also supported by numerous associations
- the Société nationale d'horticulture de France, the Conservatoire des
specialized plant collections, Hortis, Gnis, Noé - and
Truffaut.
The Ministry of Culture and Communication would like to thank
