Aurélie Filippetti was saddened to learn of the passing of Régine Desforges at the age of 78.
A successful author, having written more than forty books, she became famous with the publication of the series La Bicyclette Bleue sold more than 10 million copies and whose last volume was published by Fayard in 2007.
More than a writer, Régine Desforges was a lover of books and book crafts; she was a passionate bookseller, bookbinder, convinced editor and screenwriter.
Driven by the authors' sense of general interest, she invested herself in favour of writers by assuming the presidency of the society of writers for four years. She was also a member of the Femina Prize jury.
Feminist, dynamic, volunteer, she founded in 1968 her own publishing house, L'Or du temps and thus became the first French publisher, at a time when erotic literature earned her several lawsuits for contempt of morals.
Her writings, present in millions of French households, have been for many women, lived as advocacy for the right to assume oneself alone.
Aurélie Filippetti extends her sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.
