In agreement with the city of Roubaix and the Nord - Pas de Calais region, Aurélie Filippetti, Minister of Culture and Communication, announces the appointment of Olivier Dubois as director of the Centre chorégraphique national de Roubaix et du Nord - Pas de Calais.

A choreographer and dancer, Olivier Dubois was at first the outstanding performer of many choreographers including Angelin Preljocaj, Nasser Marin-Gousset, Jan Fabre, Sasha Waltz, Dominique Boivin. He founded the company COD in 2007 after the success in Avignon of his solo Pour tout l'or du monde...

He has developed an unusual ability to choreograph large ensembles, whether in his creation around the Spectre de la rose for the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, or in Tragedy at the 2012 Festival d'Avignon. His creations combine handwriting and the physical commitment of the dancers, meeting a wide audience.

He is currently an associate artist at CENTQUATRE in Paris, also based at L'Apostrophe - scène nationale de Cergy-Pontoise et du Val d'Oise. His awareness-raising work Envers et contre tous, carried out in 2011 with 120 amateurs at Prisme d'Elancourt, demonstrated the driving force of his actions towards the public.

His project for the Centre chorégraphique national de Roubaix et Nord - Pas de Calais engages his repertoire of creations and his energy in the service of an emblematic institution and a strong relationship to the territory. He defines the CCN as a permanent space for dialogue with artists, audiences, cultural institutions of the Lille metropolis and the Nord - Pas de Calais region. It marks his attachment to school and to questions of transmission and emphasizes the personal investment of the director in the encounter of populations.

He will take up his duties on January 1, 2014, succeeding Carolyn Carlson who has achieved a magnificent recovery of this leading tool, the Centre chorégraphique national de Roubaix et Nord - Pas de Calais.

Aurélie Filippetti would like to commend the very high quality of the projects presented by Pierre Rigal and Christian Rizzo, also finalists in this application.
