The Ministry of Culture launches every year, in the direction of the territorial museums benefiting from the name museum of France, a call for projects in order to obtain the label exhibition of national interest.

Each year, the Ministry of Culture launches a call for proposals for the Label Exposition of National Interest in the direction of the territorial museums benefiting from the Musée de France designation.

The National Interest Exhibition Label was created in 1999 to allow territorial museums to organize major exhibitions and to conduct a quality cultural and educational policy towards different audiences. Selected according to their scientific quality and the innovative nature of the cultural mediation actions that accompany them, exhibitions of national interest are part of the Ministry of Culture’s policy of dissemination and enlargement of audiences. They also participate in its policy of territorial action, with the search for a fair distribution of State aid among the regional authorities carrying projects. Finally, they are an opportunity to highlight the partnerships forged between museums in France (exhibition roaming, co-production, loans), but also with the national museums in order to facilitate and enhance the circulation of works of national collections within the territories, as close as possible to the audiences that are distant from them.
