History Committee of the Ministry of Culture

The History Committee of the Ministry of Culture was created in 1993 to preserve and promote the history of the ministry. The conviction that an administration must reflect on itself, its past and its roots, to understand its present and prepare for the future is at its foundation.

Set by the decree of 11 March 1993, the tasks of the History Committee are as follows:

gather and publicize existing work on the history of the ministry in charge of culture and the institutions under its supervision;
Generate, publish and promote research, studies, bibliographic work and source guides to the public;
organize seminars, symposia and other events in this field;
to promote the coordination of the efforts of institutions and persons conducting studies and research in this field;
promote the collection and preservation of documents and materials relevant to this history;
advise the Minister and the Directors on any matter relevant to the history of the Department.

The History Committee is composed of thirty-five members appointed by the Minister: historians, researchers, professionals and administrators of the department or institutions under trusteeship. It meets in plenary twice a year.
