The Central Office for the Suppression of Art Theft
In response to the numerous robberies and depictions committed in the churches, the Ministry of the Interior instituted by decree a Central Office for the Suppression of Theft of Works and Works of Art (OCRVOA), which in 1997 became the Central Office for Combating Trafficking in Cultural Property (OCBC). To define the scope of the scheme, which is based on the identification of sensitive objects and the information of French and foreign police services on their appearance and the means of their identification, the text refers to the criteria of the 1913 law and provisions on antique and art preservatives (CAOA).
