Film archives entrusted to the CNC
The Decree No. 69-675 of 19 June 1969 adds to the missions of the CNC, listed in Article 2 of the Cinematography Code, the collection, inventory, safeguard and restoration of films that it acquires or receives as a gift or deposit. The films are stored at Fort de Bois-d'Arcy, in a building designed by Louis Blanchet and opened in October 1968, specially equipped to preserve the highly volatile nitrate supports. In 2019, the collections of the French Film Archives, now digitized or stored on a stable medium, comprised nearly 110,000 works of film heritage from 1895 to the present day.
