Tribute by Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication, to Sotigui Kouyaté.

Sotigui Kouyaté left us a little over a year after receiving
a very deserved consecration at the Berlin Festival, with the bear
of the best actor for his overwhelming presence in
“London River” by Rachid Bouchareb.

For all of us, this man with a rich individual history
embodied the soul and humanity of Africa, of which he was a
magnificent ambassador. He was in theatre the remarkable and faithful
performer of Peter Brook. His immense and fragile silhouette at the same time,
his expressive and luminous look, his calm voice with tone and accent
will miss us. I associate myself with the grief of his family
and especially his sons, the artists Dany and Hassane Kassi Kouyaté.
