Tribute by Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication, to Raoul Ruiz

Raoul Ruiz’s universe, a universe of profound originality,
steeped in surrealism, populated by fascinating formal finds,
remains largely unexplored. If the public has voted for it for the big
films served by Marcello Mastroianni, Michel Piccoli, Catherine
Deneuve, Isabelle Huppert or Arielle Dombasle, it is often unknown that
Raoul Ruiz has shot a hundred feature films, many of which
still remain today to be discovered or rediscovered.

His latest film, «Mysteries of Lisbon» was awarded the prize in 2010
Louis-Delluc. This year, he was putting the finishing touches to the editing of the
film he had shot about his Chilean childhood. He was a tireless
