Tribute by Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication, to Leonora Carrington.

With Leonora Carrington, disappears at 94, the last witness and accomplice of
the surrealist adventure. Companion of Max Ernst, prolixe painter and author of
beautiful stories, this great lady leaves us a work in the image of her
life: moving and contrasting.

His many paintings and collages, which are now highly listed on the
art, mix the happy memories of surrealism, the Parisian era, the
painful separation and life started over in Mexico City for more than half a year
century. His rich life was that of a great lady, an extraordinary woman
who was able to overcome madness and deliver a single document: Down, dark face
a romantic work in the colors of the world.
