Tribute by Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication, to Balthasar Burkhard

With Balthasar Burkhard, the world of photography is mourning
one of his most beautiful looks. He was a prince in landscape art,
he approached as a painter and poet, with this dreamy majesty, but
also this sense of detail that came from his Bernese mountains.

He gave us the vast world to love and also his shadows, of which he
was so good at black and white “Eulogy”. At sixty-six, this
Master leaves us a subtle, delicate work in his image.
