Tribute by Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication, to Rosine Margat

One of the most striking figures of our theatrical life, the director
Simon, has just left us. Rosine Margat was a
an extraordinary educator who, more than forty years ago, took the
successor of the founder, René Simon, at the head of a legendary school
whose alumni are named Gérard Philipe, Michèle Morgan,
Louis de Funès, Edwige Feuillère, Michel Serrault, Michel Piccoli, Dany
Boon, Sami Frey, Francis Huster, Jean Reno. To quote only
a few…
Rosine Margat had the flame. She had the gift of transmitting
the intelligence of her profession. She had no power to create the
talents. But she had no one to recognize them, to
hatch, grow, show them the way to
give the best of themselves. At over eighty, she
continued its mission. It set an example. It will continue to be
a long time.
