By writing Les Diablogues more than thirty years ago, Roland Dubillard had already earned the right to enter posterity. This masterpiece of humour, this marvellous journey to Absurdy, this classic of the comic repertoire must not however make us forget so many other texts of equally irresistible power: Naïves Hirondelles, Le Jardin aux betteraves, Où boivent les vaches?…

The magician of the verb, the master of the absurd, must not make us forget the remarkable actor that was Roland Dubillard, his singular presence that was imposed both on stage and on the big screen, that voice too, which has gathered so many listeners to its radio plays.

With Roland Dubillard, it’s a little brother of Ionesco and Beckett who leaves us. His universe, subtly won by the absurd, and whose characters are not so much in search of author as of their own identity, will long continue to give us vertigo and matter to think.
