Francis Jeanson has left us. Very close to Jean-Paul Sartre, a collaborator of modern times, he was a prominent figure in French intellectual life. In particular, he is credited with a very fine collection by the Éditions du Seuil, "Écrivains de toujours", which continues today to attract thousands of readers.

A man of culture, his path will also have crossed that of the minister who was then in charge. André Malraux entrusted him with the management of the Maison de la Culture de Châlon-sur-Saône from 1967 to 1971. Always concerned to link action to reflection, Francis Jeanson then devoted himself to the psychiatric world, working with clinicians to imagine other ways of treating mental illness
