Reaction of Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication to the condemnation of Iranian actress Marzieh Vafamehr

As stated by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the
recent conviction of Marzieh Vafamehr constitutes a parody of
justice.”

Mitterrand calls on the Iranian authorities to end
barbaric practices such as flogging, prohibited by law
and is indignant that such a moral and physical monstrosity
may be inflicted on actress Marzieh Vafamehr.

The Minister again adjures the Iranian authorities to put
an end to the recurrent infringement of the rights of creators and
and freedom of expression, and all unworthy measures
that cast a detestable light on the design of the
culture of Iranian power.
