Olivier de Bernon appointed President of the Guimet Museum of Asian Arts.

On the proposal of Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication, the President of the Republic appointed Mr Olivier de Bernon, President of the public establishment of the Guimet Museum of Asian Arts.

He succeeds Jacques Giès, General Curator of Heritage, On this occasion, the Minister welcomes the assessment at the head of the Guimet Museum since 2008 where he has worked in particular to develop a program focused on contemporary Asia and to strengthen relations with the countries of the Far East.

Director of studies at the École Française d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO), Mr de Bernon is a recognized specialist of the Khmer civilization of Cambodia and South Asia. In particular, he was responsible for the EFEO’s inventory and conservation programme for the King Norodom Sihanouk Private Archive Fund.
