For the first time, the Ministry of Culture and Communication invites the art of perfume in its windows, and dedicates an exhibition to perfumers and French perfumery, a precious cultural heritage.

From January 23 to March 18, 2012 perfumers-composers, integrated or independent, past and present, too often unknown to the general public, will be in the spotlight.

Annick Le Guérer, perfume historian and curator of this exhibition, has set out to stage the great families of perfumes and presents the know-how of these creators who have marked our history and our memory, following the example of the fragrance created by Jean-Louis Fargeon for Marie-Antoinette, or the one Brigitte Bardot wore in her hair.

The exhibition also talks about the role of the synthesis revolution in the enrichment and enhancement of this cultural heritage, with the creation of two new categories of perfumes: «gourmands», and «aquatic».

In addition, it highlights the Osmothèque de Versailles, the only conservatory in the world to gather existing scents and revive great classics, in the perpetuation of this cultural heritage.
