Frédéric Mitterrand welcomes the exceptional success of the Consortium, a contemporary art centre in Dijon, on the occasion of the inauguration of its extension and the donation of its collection of nearly 300 works to the Museum of Fine Arts in Dijon.

Created in 1977 by Franck Gautherot and Xavier Douroux, the art center
contemporary The Consortium is managed from its beginnings by the

develops a critical reflection on the place and role of art by organizing
exhibitions, experiments and installations at the heart of the
urban fabric.

In 1982, with the award of the Centre d'art label, he developed an activity
exhibitions in two venues in Dijon, supporting artists like
Annette Messager, Claude Rutault or Bertrand Lavier whom he helped make
discover. He then multiplies initiatives such as publishing, the
graphic design, cinema, production of works in the public space with the

a collection of nearly 300 works.

In 2006 it launched an extension of 4000m2 with the support of the State,
of the City, the Grand Dijon, the General Council and the Regional Council, of which
entrusts the realization to the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban.
