From March 17 to 25, 2012, the Semaine de la langue française et de la Francophonie will be the meeting place for lovers of words, both in France and abroad. It will give the general public the opportunity to celebrate the French language by expressing their attachment to it and by celebrating its richness and diversity.

Tell me ten words that tell you : the 2012 edition is under the sign of personal expression with ten words that dot the work of Jean-Jacques Rousseau - soul, otherwise, character, home, trust, history, natural, penchant, dream, transport. Ten words that will serve as a red thread for nearly two thousand demonstrations in France and the world. Ten words that the public is invited to grasp on all the tones and modes: writing, video, song, slam, blog…

To launch the Week, the Comédie-Française, sponsor of this edition 2012, designed a unique and original show, given this March 8, 2012 at the Théâtre Ephémère. Four actors, Michel Favory, Christian Blanc, Adrien Gamba-Gontard and Suliane Brahim, with Oswaldo Calo on the piano, gave a performance of readings and songs composed especially around the ten words.

On this occasion, French Language and La Francophonie Week was presented by Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication, in the presence of Muriel Mayette and the troupe of the Comédie-Française.

Finally, the Minister delivered the Raymond Devos Award of the French language to comedian Guillaume Gallienne. Created in 2003, this award recognizes the work or talent of an artist – author, songwriter, lyricist or poet – who contributes to the promotion of the French language.
