"The Three Graces", a work preserved in France and classified National Treasure, is a masterpiece painted in 1531 by Lucas Cranach.

Thanks to the five thousand donors who responded to the call launched on 13 November, the Louvre has raised €1 million in donations from individuals, which it lacked to conclude the acquisition.

This exceptional generosity of individuals as well as small and medium-sized businesses has made it possible to supplement sums already collected through corporate sponsorship and acquisition credits from the Louvre Museum.

The Minister welcomes this unprecedented approach and public support for the enrichment of national collections. This generosity, with donations of 1 to 4,000 euros, is a new proof of the public’s attachment to heritage and the place they give to culture.
The Minister will return the work to the Louvre during the first quarter of 2011.
