In a context of major political crisis, the paralysis of the banking system and the blockage of maritime exchanges, Ivorian book traders had to completely interrupt their activity during the first half of 2011

To support the recovery in this sector, the Ministry of
Culture and Communication will provide them with exceptional support in the
as part of its scheme for relieving transport costs abroad.

Thus, Ivorian booksellers and wholesalers will benefit in the second half of the year
50% of their shipping costs will be covered in 2011 and
for imports of French books which are gradually resuming
the summer.

Through this support, the Minister welcomes the commercial exemplarity of
Ivorian book professionals in a particularly difficult context.

As such, the main French publishing groups have also
specific measures, including waiving part of their claims.

This exceptional aid should have a leverage effect and enable
to restructure the sector and meet the demand for the
back to school in November.
