Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister for Culture and Communication, welcomes the proposal by the European Commission for the creation of a European foundation statute.

By reducing the obstacles that currently surround the international action of foundations, the creation of this statute which respects the law of the various Member States would make it possible to facilitate the establishment in other countries of the European Union of already existing recognised foundations of public utility, or even the creation of new foundations, In this way, it promotes the implementation of private initiatives in favour of transnational issues, particularly cultural ones.

The Minister calls for a unanimous decision of the 27 States in favour of this project and its approval by the European Parliament.
