The Board of Directors of the Festival d'automne met on Wednesday 4 May under the chairmanship of Pierre Richard and unanimously appointed, on the proposal of the City of Paris and the Ministry of Culture and Communication, Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota as Director of the Festival.

The City of Paris and the Ministry of Culture and Communication wish to commend the work carried out by
Marie Collin and Joséphine Markovits, who have been in charge since the brutal disappearance in
October 2009 by Alain Crombecque, and to pay tribute to this man of such great talent, who led the
Festival since 1993.

Born in 1970, Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota has directed the Théâtre de la Ville since 2008, after having directed the
Comedy by Reims for 8 years. Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota opened up to new audiences,
the new aesthetics and new local, European and international partnerships, its priority.

His experience in Reims as well as at the Théâtre de la Ville will undoubtedly be a formidable asset to
Fall Festival service, which will be able to develop its mission of discovering shows, concerts and
exhibitions in partnership with French and international institutions. Guided by the artistic requirement,
the concern for renewal of the public and the opening to new partnerships, his project will focus on
to capture the artistic changes of our time, to discover new forms of creation and to
to enhance the festival’s national and international reach. He will continue to work at the
City.
