Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication and Roselyne Bachelot, Minister of Solidarity and Social Cohesion, addressed the accessibility of cinema and audiovisual for people with disabilities at a working session of the Commission Nationale Culture Handicap on 26 January 2012.
On this occasion, Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication, announced to the associations
representing persons with disabilities several measures:
The setting up of an incentive aid from the National Center for Cinema and Animated Image (CNC), representing
one million euros per year for three years, so that subtitling and audio-description of films are necessary
The launch of two missions: one on the audiodescription business lines,
the other on the coordination of information on subtitled and audio-described works; the
place of a working group to support the small and medium-sized film exploitation in the
making cinemas accessible; writing a new book from the Culture and
Disability specifically dedicated to cinema accessibility.
The two Ministers confirmed their support for the organization of the film festival «un autre regard», dedicated
the theme “cinema and disability”, which will be held from March 29 to 31 in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie.
Eric Garandeau, President of the Centre National du Cinéma et de l'Image Animée (CNC), reported on the work of the
