Tower and crypt of the Cathedral of Bourges
A fragile tower. The settling of the foundations weakened the nearby vaults and the north tower collapsed in 1506. Thirty years of reconstruction were necessary. The new tower, the Butter Tower, owes its name to the nature of its financing: fasting exemptions were granted against payment of money.
