Chateau de Carrouges
Carrouges is first in the XIVe century a stronghold of the Hundred Years War. It becomes a stately home in the XVe century, increased to the XVIe century of an entrance châtelet considered as the first witness of Renaissance architecture in Normandy. Once again fortified in the time of the Wars of Religion, its function as a prestigious residence is affirmed by the construction at the end of the XVIe century of two «classical» wings and the stairs that serve them due to the architect François Gabriel.
