In June 2022, the Minister of Culture entrusted Christian Giacomotto, Marie-Christine Labourdette and Arnaud Oseredczuk with a mission to improve the security of national museum acquisitions.

Along with the conservation, study and restoration of collections, their enrichment is one of the fundamental missions of museums. They have always sought to assess and address the risks associated with this mission in a reasoned, scientific and pragmatic manner. The current international situation, however, shows how museums around the world are, despite their diligence and rigorous acquisition processes, potentially exposed to the consequences of trafficking in cultural property.

The Ministry of Culture has always paid the greatest attention to this form of crime, which constitutes a serious attack on the heritage of humanity.
