Inaugurated in 1985, the Musée National Picasso-Paris preserves the world’s richest collection of works by Pablo Picasso. It is located in the heart of Paris, in the Marais district, within the Hotel Salé, built between 1656 and 1660 and protected as historical monuments since 1968. The collection of the Musée National Picasso-Paris is the result of two dates, successively granted to the State by the heirs of Pablo Picasso in 1979 and by the heiress of Jacqueline Picasso in 1990. It was supplemented by donations from Picasso’s private collection and archives.
Going through all the periods and fields of Picasso’s creation, the collection also allows the evocation of the artist’s creative process, through sketches, studies, sketches, notebooks of drawings, engravings, photographs, illustrated books, films...
