The mission of the Heritage and Photography Library (MPP) is to collect and constitute, classify and preserve, study, communicate and enhance: - the archives and documentation of the Historical Monuments Administration (monumental, movable and archaeological heritage), - the state’s photographic heritage, rich in twenty million phototypes (negatives and prints) dating back to the origins of photography.
The Médiathèque du patrimoine et de la photographie (MPP) is a service with national competence (SCN) that reports to the Heritage Service of the Ministry of Culture (Direction générale des patrimoines et de l'architecture [DGPA]).
It is made up of a general secretariat which is in charge of administrative and financial management, and three scientific departments: Department of Archives and Library, Centre for Research on Historical Monuments (CRMH) and Department of Photography.
