A first phase of work with the companies made it possible to define the strategic directions and to work on the cooperations.
On 21 December, the Minister of Culture set up a strategic committee bringing together the six public broadcasting companies to strengthen cooperation and synergies between different companies. It has enabled the launch of more than 20 cooperation projects. Several of them will lead to concrete achievements very soon, as mentioned above.
In addition, each company has worked with the Ministry and the relevant State departments to redefinition of its priorities, with the aim of anticipating changes in offers and usage.
One second phase is committed today, to translate these major orientations into practical tracks, which will make a difference for the viewers, the listeners
and Internet users who are users of the public service.
In this phase, the Minister wished to surround herself with a consultation mission, composed of Isabelle Giordano, Claire Leproust, Frédéric Lenica, Marc Tessier and Catherine Smadja-Froguel, who will be the general secretary.
The mission will lead a broad consultation of professionals and associations concerned by the guidelines defined. To do so, it will organize hearings and meetings with stakeholders and will study the contributions that will be addressed to it as part of an online public consultation, which will be open until the end of June.
In addition, the consultation mission will ensure that the government’s thinking incorporates the ideas and leads that will emerge from the debate initiated by the companies with the public.
Finally, the mission will be responsible for deepening reflection in three areas, in close collaboration with the societies concerned:
• How to optimize the contribution of public audiovisual societies to the cultural and diplomatic influence of France and the Francophonie?
• How can we strengthen outreach programs and concretely implement complementarity and collaborations between France 3 and France Bleu?
• How can we better showcase overseas programs and life, and beyond the ultramarine dimension of the national community, in the provision of public service?
The mission will return the first results of this work by 15 July.
