The Community of Communes of the 7 Valleys and its partners are launching a call for applications for two mission residencies for artists from all fields of expression.

What is the principle behind this call for applications?

Driven by a desire to reduce inequalities in access to culture and art, the Community of Communes of the 7 Valleys wishes to generalize arts and cultural education in its territory.

Around the theme “my environment in motion”, it will be a question of the place of young people in this territory, their view and their appropriation of it, their mobility(s), the prospects of setting in motion to seize the world of tomorrow.

The partners would like this residence-mission to be an opportunity for children, adolescents and young adults of the community of communes, to rediscover their territory and its richness especially natural and heritage, to reinvent their daily lives by taking a fresh look at what surrounds them, shift the gaze, poeticize the ordinary, and open up to other possibilities.

This is why the community of communes of the 7 Vallées, in close partnership with the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Hauts-de-France (DRAC), the Rectorate of the Académie de Lille – Academic Delegation for Arts and Culture (DAAC) the Departmental Directorate of National Education Services (DSDEN) of Pas-de-Calais – and in conjunction with the Departmental Council of Pas-de-Calais and the Regional Council of Hauts-de-France, offers two residencies for two artists from all fields of expression.

The residency period is scheduled between Monday, February 27, 2023 and Friday, June 16, 2023.

The context

This mission residence takes place as part of a prefiguration to a Culture-Rurality Contract.
The actions of the DRAC in favor of the rural world are a variation of the orientations of the Ministry of Culture within the framework of the plan «culture near you» with the strengthening of the access of all citizens to culture from an early age and with the valorization of the territories, measures also defined in the rural agenda of 2019 and reaffirmed at the interdepartmental committee to rural regions of 14 November 2020.
To combat territorial, social and family inequalities, the DRAC Hauts-de-France is committed to rural culture contracts, to accompany the intercommunalities whose role is essential to take into account the diversity of the territories with its entities and its concerns.
