The Beauvaisis Agglomeration Community and its partners are calling for applications for a residency for professional journalists.

What is the principle behind this call for applications?

Motivated by a desire to strengthen the bonds of solidarity between the communes and the inhabitants, to guarantee access to the culture of all the population, to reveal a common identity and to promote the territory, its memories and its know-how,The Beauvaisis Agglomeration Community wishes to invest public space as a place of cultural transmission.

Around the project «Visages du Beauvaisis», it will be a matter of valuing the memory of the inhabitants to question the past, to look at the present and to build the future, through portraits of inhabitants, meetings and innovative formats of cultural action. Individuals, through their personal memories, constitute a collective memory and make up a human heritage. Valuing this heritage through a participatory, inclusive and educational approach makes it possible to initiate a civic dynamic of encounter between the inhabitants of the same territory, of openness of mind, of evolution of the looks that one holds on oneself, on its neighbors, on people who share the same space, in order to build living together.

The partners would like this residence-mission to be able to make known the profession and the issues of journalism, to initiate critical approaches and reflections on the notion of point of view, to orchestrate trips, bridges and encounters between people who are far apart, and voices and memories.

This project, implemented by the Beauvaisis Mediatheques network and the Beauvaisis agglomeration community, is developing, in partnership with the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Hauts-de-France, the Rectorate of the Academy of Amiens - Academic Delegation for Arts and Culture, and the Departmental Directorate of Education Services of the Oise, a residence-missions 2023 for professional journalists.

The residency period is scheduled between January and December 2023.

The context

This residence-mission are organized within the framework of the Local Contract of Arts Education (CLEA), recently transferred from the City of Beauvais to the Agglomeration of Beauvaisis as part of a new acquisition of jurisdiction by the Community of Agglomeration of Beauvaisis in arts and cultural education.

The CLEA are essential levers of the arts and cultural education policy, priority of the Ministry of Culture. Renewable 3-year contracts, signed at least between a local authority, the DRAC and Education Nationale, they allow young people to build a coherent artistic and cultural education path. They can also address the entire population and help to structure cultural development in the territories concerned.

This project, supported by the Beauvaisis media libraries, is also part of the Reading Territory Contract.

The aim of this scheme is to characterize the media libraries as actors of the social bond (in particular in the fight against illiteracy and illiteracy), to build a territorial network of public reading and to experiment with a new cultural offer, developing a participatory culture with the inhabitants through collaborative projects.
