Groupe Poste Habitat (partner of the Drac Île-de-France) is launching a call for projects for artists, collectives or companies for an artistic creation residency. She will have to associate the tenants of the residence rue Thimonnier in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.
The Culture Directorate of the social funder Toit et Joie – Poste Habitat invites artists, collectives or companies, to carry out a shared artistic creation project in the residence located at 1 – 23 rue Thimonnier in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges. All artistic fields are represented: visual arts, cinema, photography, sound and musical creation, theatre, literature, performance, etc.
Projects submitted must:
- promote exchanges and meetings;
- allow initiation to artistic practices;
- make room for everyone’s imagination.
The implementation of research and artistic creation projects integrate the participation of tenants and inhabitants in the creative process. The projects must allow exchanges and meetings, initiations to artistic practices, but above all a sharing of the commitments, creative approaches, expertise and imagination of each. Each project is conducted according to its own modalities and its own rhythm, according to the needs of the project and the availability of artists and inhabitants. The proposals made to the inhabitants, as well as the form of the project’s completion, also vary according to the proposals.
Presence and temporality
A strong presence of the artistic team in the territory of the project is essential (in the residence of Villeneuve-Saint-Georges and in the neighborhood according to the needs of projects), as well as a real capacity to project over the meetings, according to the realities of field. Regular meetings with tenants are essential to the success of the project, as well as exchanges with the cultural and social structures of the territory. The project runs from 6 months to 1 year, starting in February 2023. The project begins with a presentation and meeting phase with tenants and potential project partners. This phase makes it possible to refine or modify the initial proposal so that it is consistent with the audiences and spaces encountered.The project ends with a public presentation, for all tenants (at least), which aims to share with everyone the experience lived during the artistic residency. In June 2023, as part of the Beyond the Roof Festival, the artistic team in residence will be asked to offer a highlight, open to all.
The public
The project must involve: Tenants of residences Toit et Joie – Habitat Station and more broadly the residents of the residence; Adults or an intergenerational audience.
Accompaniment
The Culture Management team accompanies the project by ensuring a regular presence on site, by participating in the definition of the project and its modalities, by facilitating the link with the partners and the tenants, by providing logistical assistance if necessary. However, the team of the Direction de la culture is not intended to accompany the artist or the team at each time of presence in the residence. The project benefits from a privileged contact on site permanently: the caretaker of the residence, who can support the team in its exchanges with the tenants and its technical needs.
Endowment
The project is funded to the tune of 10,000 euros including taxes. This includes the time spent on research and personal creation of the laureate, the artistic presence on the project site and with the inhabitants, the broadcasting rights and the technical costs associated with the creation of the works, if any. Toit et Joie – Poste Habitat takes charge of the coordination, support and communication around the project, and provides a workspace in the residence. No accommodation can be offered.
Eligibility
The jury will evaluate the proposals on the following criteria:
- Quality of past artistic experiences and creations;
- Relevance of proposals to tenants and residents, relevance of methods of mobilization;
- Ability to immersion in residence and territory.
