Multidisciplinary (Arts and Humanities, Law, Economics, Management, Letters and Languages, Health, Science and Technology, 2 IUT, 1 engineering school), the University is located in the heart of Tours but also in Blois. It has over 30,000 students. With 36 research units, it is the first public research institution in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
It stands out for the richness of its cultural offer, with a performance hall of nearly 600 seats and a Student Cultural Passport giving access to more than 80 cultural structures of the agglomeration of Tours and Blois at special rates.
The University of Tours, through its cultural service and with the support of the Direction régionale des affaires culturelles (DRAC) Centre-Val de Loire, has been hosting artists in residence in all disciplinary fields since 2002. These residencies place at the heart of university life an artist or collective of artists, who goes to meet the members of a research unit, and more broadly all students, teachers and staff of the university around a creative project deployed on campus.
TheUnit EA2106 "Plant Biomolecules and Biotechnologies" (BBV) of the University of Tours is a multidisciplinary academic research team composed of 3 professors and 12 lecturers affiliated with the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, located on the wooded site of the park of Grandmont in Tours. The team also includes staff in support of research and teaching, as well as Master’s students, French or international doctoral and post-doctoral students. In total the team represents more than 35 people.
