The Departmental Council of the Gironde launches a call for applications for the implementation of the 1% artistic in two colleges of the territory: the Jacques Ellul College in Bordeaux and the Philippe Madrelle College in Marsas.

The call for nominations 1% artistic «A WORK, A COLLEGE»
The call for applications concerns the design, production and installation of an original artistic work for each college (2 lots). It is open to any type of discipline resulting from the visual arts for artist authors.
Collectives and groups are accepted.
The original work can appeal to any means of expression of the contemporary creation of the field of plastic and visual arts. No location or theme is predefined but the candidate will have to be attentive to the context and the values carried by both the Departmental Council of the Gironde and the artistic program «Une oeuvre, un collège».
In addition to its contextualization related to the missions and vocation of a college, the program «Une oeuvre, un collège» is launched in an unprecedented temporality since each college is active. While respecting the freedom of creation, the candidate or the group will be imbued with the architectural description, the diagnosis of use and the sensitive work resulting from the participatory approach to make its proposal.
Achievements must be completed by January 2025.
Overall budget allocated per batch:
- For Lot 1, Jacques Ellul College (Bordeaux): 203,000 euros including taxes.
The actual share of the project is reduced to €183,000 including taxes after deduction of advertising and miscellaneous expenses, including allowances. - For Lot 2 collège Philippe Madrelle (Marsas): 186,000 euros including taxes.
The actual share of the project is reduced to €166,000 including taxes after deduction of advertising and miscellaneous expenses, including allowances.
Deadline for applications: 22 May 2023 to 12.00 at the latest. Applications must be submitted online.
The 1% artistic in public constructions
Expression of the public will to support the creation and to sensitize our fellow citizens to the art of our time, «the obligation of decoration of public constructions», commonly called « 1% artistic » is a specific procedure for ordering works from artists that is binding on the State, its public institutions and local authorities.
