The residence offers an artist, through the experience of the place (Renoir workshop and house) and the environment (wine village at the water’s edge) to deploy a work of creation preferably pictorial inspired by the work of Renoir and the territory leaving free interpretation of the artistic practice to the resident. A punctual mediation of the artist’s work will be expected during the residency period.
Presentation of the residence "Renoir today - in the footsteps of Renoir"
In parallel with the creative work, the artist will have the mission to meet and dialogue with different audiences: school, museum public, institutional, patrons. This pedagogical role will allow him to promote his work and promote the Association and more broadly the territory.
In addition, prior to the residency, the Association will jointly decide with the artist a program of valorization of his work through possible local or national exhibitions in support with its partners.
The work can also be designed to be permanently installed in the village of Essoyes and will be the property of the association.
The work produced will not affect the integrity or the honour or morality of Renoir, his work, his family, or the values of the territory.

Artistic remuneration
Artistic remuneration in the amount of €6,000, including all taxes, will be awarded to the selected artist, including €1,000 for the assignment of copyright.
This budget will be entirely managed by the artist and must cover all the expenses necessary for the realization of the work.
This amount must also cover the following elements: Per Diem of the artist, materials, travel.
The artist undertakes to be present at Essoyes during the two months of residency.

Application file
To apply the artists will present a dossier consisting of the following pieces:
- Artistic dossier (a selection of the main pieces, a biography, a manifesto, a curriculum vitae and possible curation texts or press publications);
- A memorandum of intent on the proposed global project with text and visual;
- The complete digital file can be sent to the Renoir Association at:
