The Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, the project sponsor, is launching a call for applications under a «1% artistic» procedure attached to the rehabilitation program of a building that will host the FRAC-Artothèque Nouvelle-Aquitaine association. Located in downtown Limoges.

The project

This industrial building from the late 19th century presents architectural qualities and volumes in line with an exhibition activity, especially contemporary art. Through a presence in the heart of the city, it will allow better visibility of actions by the public.

The architectural firm JAKOB+MACFARLANE is in charge of interior design and façade treatment. This rehabilitation, designed by JAKOB+MACFARLANE, is a functional and innovative architectural project, allowing synergies between the art world and the public.

Designed as a “capable space”, the future premises of the FRAC-Artothèque Nouvelle-Aquitaine will be able to host technological innovations for artistic programming with a digital component. The artistic program of the commission aims at the design-realization and installation of a set of artistic creations in the field of visual arts, whose purpose is to punctuate the circulation of visitors in the building and together form a coherent work.

The proposals, respectful of the architectural project, must enter into dialogue with the architecture and uses of the site.
The proposals are free to testify, highlight, question, evaluate, dream the site.
