The Hauts-de-France Regional Cultural Affairs Directorate (DRAC) and the Union nationale des associations de tourisme (UNAT) – Hauts-de-France region, are calling for applications for a residency-mission in the direction of artists or artistic collectives from all artistic disciplines.

What is the principle behind this call for applications?

It is for an artist, to reside in the Village Vacances «Le Cap d'Opale», and to accompany, at a rate of six days a week, the teams of animation and reception of young people coming to stay there. The artist will develop very varied processes of cultural action and artistic action as well as times of practice that are strongly imbued with the artistic research and approach that animate him.

Experimentation, the permanent renewal of proposals, participatory action, the unexpected and the joyful but also questioning are particularly desired.

If no theme is imposed by the partners. , they suggest, without any obligation, however, that each artist-candidate be able to propose one or at least a kind of red thread.

The DRAC Hauts-de-France du Nord, the UNAT Hauts-de-France and the Village Vacances «Le Cap d'Opale» propose a residence-mission of artistic support in direction of artists on the theme of living together.

The residency period is from July 10 to August 20, 2023.

The context

Partnerships for holidaymakers, based on an organized articulation between social and solidarity tourism on the one hand and artistic and cultural facts on the other, have been experimenting in the Hauts-de-France region since the summer of 2017.

To do this, the Hauts-de-France Regional Cultural Affairs Directorate and the Union nationale des associations de tourisme – Hauts-de-France region have chosen, after consultation, to favour a form of intervention placing the artist in a central and radiant situation and mobilizing more particularly the various professionals active in establishments of holiday or stay.

What is an Artistic Support Mission (MiAA)?

The mission of artistic support is initiated for the purposes of cultural democratization and more particularly of artistic and cultural education throughout life.

The objective is to bring, in a specific site and relatively limited, as here, in this shelter, the public who come under it, momentarily or in a more prolonged way, to find themselves, incidentally or, on the contrary, in a very organized way, close to an artist and to live with him times of encounter and action where everything is possible.

It takes the form of a residence, that is, a full and consecutive presence of a professional artist.

Contact

It is advisable to contact the institution before sending the application in order to learn about the context and specific issues of the mission residence.
