National programme for digitisation and enhancement of cultural content
The digitization of cultural content is one of the main conditions for the implementation of a departmental digital strategy resolutely focused on usages, the dissemination of culture to the greatest number, the development of digital education and the emergence of new online services.
Cinema and audiovisual
The financial support mechanism for the digitization of cinematographic heritage works has a triple objective: to make accessible to the public the widest possible the cinematographic works of the twentieth century in the technologies and modes of diffusion of today, promote the enrichment of legal offers on the internet, ensure the preservation and transmission of this heritage for future generations.
The establishment of this new common sector has a triple objective: to accelerate the digitization of works and their availability to the public; to develop the legal offer dematerialized in HD and physical on BD medium, and to make accessible the works of heritage, known or forgotten, in optimal viewing quality; to ensure that holders of VàD and physical video rights on BD media receive financial assistance well in advance of high definition broadcast.
The Film Heritage Commission is responsible for establishing a programme for the preservation and restoration of films preserved by public and private heritage institutions of national importance. In addition, the Committee may examine any case relating to the heritage tasks of the institutions represented - and in particular discuss offers for acquisitions of films or non-film elements (posters, cameras, photos, documents, costumes, sets, etc.) which are made to the institutions by third parties.
The transformation of film heritage in today’s digital technologies is a societal challenge of prime importance so that the public of today and tomorrow can have access to the common culture of cinema. The availability of this heritage on all dissemination tools and especially on video on demand platforms is essential.
Music
Alternative Dissemination Assistance to support innovative projects, which guarantee the artistic use and favour the link with the public in a context where health measures do not allow the companies of spectacle to receive from the public under usual conditions. This program contributes to diversity and is complementary to other support programs of the National Music Centre
Book and Reading
The purpose of the Journal Retrospective Digitization Grant is to support the retrospective digitization of print journals, with a view to making them available online for a fee on an individual portal or site. In the case of a semi-paid economic model (free of charge below a mobile barrier), aid is limited to ten years (years N-12 to N-2).
Aid to publishers for the publication and dissemination of e-books is intended to support publishers wishing to publish and disseminate a set of ebooks.
Support for digital services is intended to support the book industry in order to develop projects for structuring and interprofessional digital services in the fields of editorial production, structuring of digital book content, or the dissemination of literary works.
In order to better support communities in the transition from traditional libraries and media libraries to the digital world, the State has developed in 2011 the special assistance of the DGD, to mobilize a significant part of the credits and adapt them to the challenges of the digital world. The wider opening of this facility to investment operations in the fields of informatics and digital technology will allow the development of infrastructures necessary for the dissemination of digital resources and the establishment of digital services in the territorial libraries.
The Reference Digital Library label with a multiannual financial support via the special assistance of libraries within the general decentralisation endowment (DGD) and, for classified libraries, the provision, Renovated and Digital Arrow, from State Conservators.
Visual arts
The objective of this programme is to enable creative and dissemination structures in the fields of contemporary art, design, fashion and crafts to offer a different artistic offer to audiences, to broaden and reach new audiences familiar with online digital uses and to respond to the challenges of visibility of works and knowledge of the diversity of creation.
Heritage
The MESRI call for projects for the computerization of collections is the only permanent device for these museums on this theme. The online availability and accessibility of this scientific and heritage data is part of the dialogue between science, research and society. The French natural history collections, preserved within a plurality of institutions, are thus a source.

National cultural operators
Some major operators ensure ambitious programmes to digitise and enhance cultural content.
The BnF digitizes more than one million pages per month from its heritage collections. Since 2013, this production has been complemented by digital documents produced as part of the agreements concluded by BnF-Partenariats.
Since 1946, the Photo Agency of the Reunion of National Museums and the Grand Palais (an industrial and commercial public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture) is officially in charge of the promotion and dissemination of collections held in the national museums of France.
For more than 60 years, the Agency has been conducting photography campaigns within national museums. Every year more than 20,000 new shots are taken on site and enrich the agency’s fund accessible to all. These shots are enriched with 3D reproductions.
