Les années quatre-vingt-dix ont marqué une ère nouvelle pour les études ethnographiques en Grèce. Après avoir été, dans les premières décennies de l'après-Seconde Guerre mondiale, le monopole d'une communauté relativement peu nombreuse d'anthropologues anglo-saxons, ce domaine de connaissance s'est transformé récemment en un champ d'investigations multiples, différencié sur le plan national et polyvalent sur le plan théorique. Ce travail tente un passage en revue sommaire mais systématique de la littérature ethnographique grecque et internationale concernant la Grèce, en insistant sur la dernière décennie, celle de la crise balkanique et de la « modernisation », où s'est accompli un virage exemplaire vers la subjectivité. L'ethnographie grecque se caractérise par la dispersion en cercles thématiques ayant pour épicentre le genre, le corps et d'autres dimensions de l'identité individuelle, les diverses variantes de l'identité collective, la mémoire et la modernité. Elle est aussi régie par des interprétations multiples, alternatives, de la théorie de la construction mais aussi par des expérimentations au niveau de l'écriture. L'hellénisation accrue de l'ethnographie grecque, son engagement dans une anthropologie du « chez-soi » et son positionnement dans le cadre de l'anthropologie grecque sont les défis majeurs auxquels est confrontée depuis peu cette branche en principe extravertie.

A pluralist time. Greek ethnography at the turn of the century
The 1990's marked a new era of ethnographie studies in Greece. Greek ethnography which was the monopoly of a relatively small community of Anglo-Saxon anthropologists in the first postwar decades has recently become a dynamic, ethnically diverse and theorically polyvalent field. This article offers a brief but systematic review of Greek and international ethnographic literature on Greece, with an emphasis on the last decade a period marked by the Balkan crisis, domestic policies of modernization, and the disciphnary turn toward subjectivity. Greek ethnography is fragmented into thematic circles focussing on gender, the body and other dimensions of the individual identity, as well as on collective identity, memory and modernity. It is also informed by alternative interpretations of the construction theory and by experiments with writing. The increased hellenization of Greek ethnography, its involvment in an anthropology « at home » and its positioning within the frame-work of Greek anthropology are the major challenges facing this theoretically extrovert discipline.

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG


Eine plurale Zeit. Die griechische Ethnographie an der Wende des Jahrhunderts
Die 90er Jahre bedeuten eine neue Ära der ethnographischen Studien in Griechenland. Während dieses Wissensgebiet in den ersten Nachkriegsjahrzehnten das Monopol einer verhältnismässig kleinen Gemeinschaft angelsächsischer Anthropologen war, ist es seit kurzem der Gegenstand vieler Studien geworden, die auf der nationalen Ebene differenziert und auf der theoretischen polyvalent sind. Dieser Artikel gibt einen kurzen systematischen Überblick über die griechische und internationale Literatur über Griechenland und legt Nachdruck auf das letzte Jahrzehnt mit der Balkankrisis, der "Modernisierung" und einer exemplarischen Wendung zur Subjektivität. Die griechische Ethnographie kennzeichnet sich durch eine Zersplitterung in thematische Kreisen, die auf das Geschlecht, den Körper und andere Dimensionen der individuellen Identität, die verschiedenen Varianten der kollektiven Identität, das Gedächtnis und die Modernität konzentriert werden. Sie kennzeichnet sich auch durch vielfache alternative Interpretationen der Konstruktionstheorie und das Experimentieren mit dem Schreiben. Die zunehmende Hellenisierung der griechischen Ethnographie, ihre Verpflichtung in einer Anthropologie des Heims und ihre Positionierung innerhalb der griechischen Anthropologie sind die Hauptherausforderungen mit denen dieses theoretisch extravertierten Feld seit kurzem konfrontiert ist.
