Football et et représentation territoriale : un club de football amateur en milieu ouvrier



RESUME

Le football amateur est éminemment développé aujourd'hui en France. Il est très révélateur de l'identité des groupes qui le composent. À partir d'une enquête ethnographique réalisée par observation participante dans un club bourguignon d'un village industriel, ce texte montre que, si l'appartenance locale se réalise par une appropriation régulière du territoire communal, la représentation est, quant à elle, opérée par une mise en scène de l'excellence ouvrière, via un corps masculin. Lorsque le rapport au travail ne permet plus par lui-même l'affirmation de l'identité ouvrière, cette dernière émerge d'autres activités, comme le football.

ABSTRACT

Football and territorial representation : an amateur club in a worker's village.
Amateur football is eminently developed in France today. A study of its practice shows that it strongly reveals the symbolic identity of the players' groups. On the basis of an ethnographic investigation conducted with participative observation in a club of a Burgundian industrial village the author tries to show that the amateur club not only belongs to a locality, but also considers itself as representing it. The example developed here points out that local belonging consists in a regular appropriation of the village area, while representation is achieved by staging workers' excellence via a male body. When the relationship with work no longer enables workers to affirm their identity they can do it through other activities like football.

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG


Fussball und territoriale Repräsentation
Ein Amateurklub in einem Arbeiterdorf
Amateurfussball ist heute sehr verbreitet in Frankreich. Er ist sehr aufschlussreich für die Identität der angehörenden Gruppen. Auf der Basis einer ethnographischen Untersuchung in dem burgundischen Klub eines indusriellen Dorfes mit teilnehmender Beobachtung des Autors, zeigt dieser, dass während die lokale Angehörigkeit durch eine regelmässige Aneignung des Gemeindegebiets verwirklicht wird, die Repräsentation durch eine Inszenierung der Arbeitervortrefflichkeit via einen männlichen Körper erreicht wird. Wenn das Verhältnis zur Arbeit den Arbeitern nicht mehr ermöglicht, ihre Identität zu behaupten, kommt diese aus anderen Aktivitäten wie Fussball hervor.
