The vesica of the gable The vesica of the gable
The gable at the top of the façade is divided into two parts by a string-course. Its construction is remarkably sophisticated, with circular masonry in the lower part and reticulated work above. At the centre of this gable is a large vesica with a large Christ in its centre, holding the Book in his left hand and giving a benediction with the other. Above this Christ there are bas-reliefs of the sun and the moon and figures of the winged symbols representing the four evangelists: the man for Saint Matthew, the lion for Saint Mark on his right, the eagle for Saint John and the bull for Saint Luke on his left.
